The House Republicans have voted for a new majority leader to replace Rep. Eric Cantor, who will soon vacate that post after being defeated by Dave Brat in a Virginia primary.

Rep. McCarthy survived a challenge from Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho), who was also running for that position.

Cantor will step down as majority leader on July 31.
