This Biologist’s Unique Photos Celebrate Mother Nature’s Playful Side

When it comes to being a jack-of-all-trades, Phil Torres is an expert. With a LinkedIn profile that would make just about any reasonable human feel inadequate, this conservation biologist is also a TV host, a science reporter, a world traveller, and a talented photographer.

Wildlife photos of any kind are pretty outstanding (especially when you consider the fact that these photographers willingly approach lions and stuff), but his images have a refreshingly funny tilt.

Meet Phil Torres, everyone.

When he’s not taking awesome selfies with bugs on his face, he’s taking even cooler photos of animals in the wild just doing their thing. Here are some of his best.

This bird is all of us as we teeter on the edge of insanity.

It’s scientifically proven that musk oxen know their best angles.

Research also suggests that starfish are, in his words, made up of “ghostly hands in rubber gloves.” Seems legit.

Here we have a visual representation of what Monday mornings feel like.

“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Also, I’m short.

This is me trying to work out.

The sea lion version of Beyonce did, in fact, wake up like this.

I’m going to take a stab in the dark here and guess that this monkey’s problematic uncle just ruined a perfectly nice family dinner.

Here’s how Internet trolls feel when they slide into your mentions.

This image speaks to me on a spiritual level.

And if you didn’t think that taking hilarious candids of animals being ridiculous was cool enough, how would you feel if I told you that Phil Torres even discovered a new species? Because he did.

The tiny spider in this photo is the only non-human animal that can create a figure of another animal from scratch. Torres found this bizarre little guy in Peru, so just remember that when you start feeling too good about yourself.

Basically, Phil Torres is living the dream and doing important work in the process.

There’s way more where that came from, folks. To learn more about Phil Torres and his many projects, be sure to check him out on Facebook. For regular updates and a daily dose of Mother Nature at her finest, follow Torres on Instagram!
