Indiana paper deletes ‘incorrect’ tweet after Michael Sam announcement

After NFL prospect Michael Sam revealed publicly that he’s gay, an Indiana newspaper, The Elkhart Truth, tweeted that state lawmakers were seeking to ban Sam from playing in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. They since deleted the tweet:

So is that claim remotely true? Um, no.

The Elkhart Truth apologized, and in a Facebook post said it happened because a staffer “misinterpreted a colleague’s social media update and posted the incorrect information”:

Indiana’s proposed HJR-3 amendment, which is currently being debated, would prohibit same-sex marriage in the state but of course mentions nothing about Michael Sam.
