John Boehner appoints Candice Miller as committee chair, is branded misogynist

Yesterday, Twitchy reported on a growing call from conservatives for House Majority Leader John Boehner to simply walk away from the White House’s “tax more, spend more” bid to avoid hitting the fiscal cliff. The logic behind that strategy? For one, many reason that Republicans will be saddled with the blame no matter what happens. If anyone doubts that fact of political life, today’s news from Capitol Hill provides a prime example.

Hearing criticism, Boehner namesa woman to chair committee — a committee she wasn’t even on huff.to/Slam9E

Today Boehner announced that Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.) will chair the House Administration Committee. It’s not the most exciting development this week, but the media quickly found an angle: Boehner buckled under criticism that all GOP chairs were white men. But naming Miller chair would be a good thing then, right? Oh, so wrong.

For her part, Miller doesn’t sound like she takes the appointment as an insult.

Honored to serve as Chair of House Administration Committee & ensure the House runs in an effective & efficient manner goo.gl/bQEuU

President Obama was quick to come to the defense of U.N. Sec. Susan Rice, daring her critics to come after him instead. Will he call to console “token housekeeper” Miller and praise her for her extraordinary work? He could say something like this:

Congrats to @candicemiller on her appointment to chair the House Administration Committee! #Michigan @migop #tcot

It’s just a pity that the fact that @candicemiller is a woman (duh!) is overshadowing the reasons WHY she deserves the appointment. #tcot
