If you haven’t yet heard of British boy band One Direction, you soon will. A product of the U.K. version of Simon’s Cowell’s X Factor talent show, the band is making its U.S. television debut this morning on the Today show, performing its hit single What Makes You Beautiful.

Judging by the response on Twitter (“Today Show” is a trending topic), it seems every 14-year old girl in the country has a bad case of One Direction fever:

Alas, the lovable boys of One Direction have been a bit naughty:

One Direction trashed a bowling alley in New York following a successful gig in the city.

The British boy band – made up of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne – were celebrating their show at Radio City Music Hall with a game of bowling but they had been hurling three balls at a time down the lane, and ended up smashing the machinery.

Louis said: ”The whole thing came off its hinges. It totally broke. We got a slap on the hand and were told off by the label for that.

”We’d taken over a lane, played about two games and then we got a bit bored. So we started to experiment, throwing two or three balls at the same time.”

Update: as of 9:00 am ET, #OneDirectionTODAY is the #1 trending topic on Twitter.
