Tonight, President Barack Obama spoke at the memorial service for victims of the Newtown, Conn., massacre.

Obama: “I’ll use whatever power this office has to engage my fellow citizens … in an effort aimed at preventing more tragedies like this”

Obama:”No single law or set of laws can eliminate evil from the world… but that can’t be an excuse for inaction.” pwire.at/UAV8fr

Although he didn’t say the word “gun control,” the implication was clear.

Some conservatives felt Obama’s injection of politics into the prayer service was inappropriate, but the Left couldn’t say enough about how awesome the speech was:

That may be the finest speech Obama has ever given.

Most moving, direct speech I’ve heard Obama give in 4 yrs in response to gun violence. For the first time, he seems ready to deal with this.

Bravo Pres Obama “we can’t tolerate this anymore. And to end this we must change. Surely we can do better than this”. #Newtown

This is a magnificent speech by President Obama. Powerful, eloquent, emotional, determined. He wants action now, not words, on guns.

Point of personal reflection, I’ve been waiting to hear this type of speech from any politician my entire life.
