Facebook blocks Twitchy from posting for 24 hours, threatens permanent ban

Facebook informed Twitchy yesterday that it removed a post from our Facebook page for violating Facebook’s Community Standards. The post included this photo:

(Editors note: The photo posted by Twitchy included the “censored by Twitchy” oval. We did not post an uncensored photo.)

An uncensored version of the above photo appears on a Twitter feed that President Barack Obama’s official Twitter account subscribes to.

This morning we received a message from Facebook saying it removed a second post from our Facebook page. The message said we are being blocked from posting to our account for 24 hours and may be permanently banned from Facebook if we violate Facebook’s standards again. The message did not identify which post violated Facebook’s standards.

When we try to post to our Facebook page, we get the following message:

You recently posted something that violates Facebook policies, so you’re temporarily blocked from using this feature. Learn More.To keep from getting blocked again, please make sure you’ve read and understand Facebook’s Community Standards.

The block will be active for 23 hours more.

Twitchy was unable to find a contact information for Facebook on its page. So we complained to Facebook via its Twitter page:

.@facebook this morning we were told a *second* FB post had been removed from our FB page but no explanation was given.

.@facebook this morning's message said you may permanently ban our FB page. This is how u treat someone who has spent thousands on FB ads?

— TwitchyTeam (@TwitchyTeam) October 6, 2012

.@facebook has blocked us from posting to our FB page for 24 hours due to two bogus "violations of community standards." Very frustrating.

— TwitchyTeam (@TwitchyTeam) October 6, 2012

Some Twitchy readers think we are being targeted by liberals who are filing bogus complaints in an attempt to get us thrown into Facebook gulag:

@TwitchyTeam sounds like you are being targeted via censorship

@SMjaniczek @twitchyteam I'll bet you have trolls hitting the block complaint buttons. That's why this is happening

— StephanienraJaniczek (@SMjaniczek) October 6, 2012

@TwitchyTeam I am sure the libs are reporting everything they can about you

Update:

Twitchy is no longer blocked from posting on Facebook. Twitchy’s posts were accidentally removed during Facebook’s review process.

.@facebook has unblocked us. Thank you, Facebook! And thanks to all of our readers for your support. You are the best!

Many thanks to our contact at Facebook for addressing the issue.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Twitchy readers for your support. Twitchy readers are the best!

Many thanks to Glenn Reynolds and William Jacobson for writing about the Facebook block.
