President Obama warns against rushing to judgment in age of tweets

Did President Obama call out Twitter and Reddit during his statement tonight following the capture of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev? We all know that he has criticized police in the past for “acting stupidly,” but law enforcement rightfully received nothing but praise tonight. But we all know by now that any time Obama is behind a podium, someone is in for a scolding.

“In this age of instant reporting, tweets and blogs, there is a temptation to… jump to conclusions.”- #Obama

Did Obama just call out Reddit in his press conference?

— Paul Dufour (@pdufour) April 20, 2013

You have to think that Obama was talking about Reddit users and tweeters when he talked about letting investigators do their job

Obama cautions public about jumping to conclusions on social media

Shorter Obama: Whatever you do, don’t jump to the conclusion that these are Muslim terrorists.

Obama called out reddit. “We don’t jump to conclusions and judge entire groups of people, we have courts and we investigate things fully”

— flyinsaucier (@flyinsaucier) April 20, 2013

That’s right; let’s not rush to judgment.

— Ali Abunimah (@AliAbunimah) April 20, 2013

Obama was doing ok til the rush to judgment crap. Tell that to your MSNBC groupies when they were blaming Tea Party folks for the bombings.

— Jean (@JeanD64) April 20, 2013

Obama rushed to judgment on Cambridge Police, Trayvon Martin but….not when it’s Muslim terrorists! #tcot #bostonbombing
