The White House was evacuated yesterday after a man jumped the fence and made it all the way into the White House’s north portico doors before security stopped him.
Fox News’ Chief White House Correspondent Ed Henry wonders how the White House intruder was able to make it that far:
Hours later, the plaza in front of WH still shut down. Secret Service seen doing shoulder to shoulder "sweep" of North Lawn for explosives

Obviously a fear within Secret Service that while fence jumper was unarmed upon apprehension, he could have left something on lawn

Seems insane Secret Service didn't have dogs — as usual — on NLawn & usually at least one or more officers outside front door to residence

Remember just over wk ago this is how Secret Service responded to "Pokemon" fence jumper — where were dogs last nt? pic.twitter.com/tvnEavVHDL

How could not ONE Secret Service officer stop last nite's jumper from getting to door when THIS was scene wk ago? pic.twitter.com/uGCPgY5S7l

The AP’s Josh Lederman speculated about the apparently lighter security:
@edhenryTV True, although possible they had lower security posture because first family wasn't at home
— Josh Lederman (@joshledermanAP) September 20, 2014
. @joshledermanAP point being WH obviously still, unfortunately, a huge target even when First Family is away — someone on dinner break?

One possible explanation for lighter-than-usual security at the White House:
@edhenryTV they were sweeping the next golf course Ed.

Meanwhile, the latest White House fence jumper had been identified:
Police have named the man who jumped the White House fence Friday evening as Omar Gonzalez, 42 http://t.co/Isjd66SVqW
