Elizabeth Warren praised for showing ‘no mercy’; Ted Cruz deemed ‘nasty’

As Twitchy reported, freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was the subject of a handful of hit pieces today following his aggressive questioning of Defense Secretary nominee Chuck Hagel. “Cruz has gone too far,” wrote Ruth Marcus. Frank Bruni called Cruz “an ornery, swaggering piece of work.” He’s only been in the Senate for a month; how dare he be so bold?

Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has been in the Senate for as short a time as Cruz, but her “bomb throwing” looks more like fireworks to the press, going by coverage of her performance at yesterday’s Senate Banking Committee hearing. She’s no bully; she’s a straight-up gangsta mack-daddy badass doing her job.

If you look, you will see, a real US Senator, Elizabeth Warren. ask Real Questions, to Bankers, demanding answers. No cutesy stuff. Classy.

There’s no double-standard, though. Those hapless Wall Street hacks were just clueless rich white men who weren’t prepared, and Hagel? Well…

@arifleischer Greater opening with Cruz because other senators — on the record — criticized his conduct. That didn’t happen with Warren.

— Robert A George (@RobGeorge) February 16, 2013

@robgeorge @arifleischer yes, that must be it

— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) February 16, 2013

@jpodhoretz I’m not denying bias exists, John but, there were OBJECTIVE differences here. @arifleischer

— Robert A George (@RobGeorge) February 16, 2013

@robgeorge @arifleischer you think stories about how one freshman is mouthy while another freshman is bold have an objective frame?
