Obama campaign's new slogan: "FORWARD." MSNBC's slogan since late 2010: "Lean forward."

— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) April 30, 2012

#Forward : Because "Lean Forward" propelled MSNBC to the top of the ratings charts. Oh, wait…

— KevinC (@ExurbanKevin) April 30, 2012

— Christopher Metzler (@DrMetzler) April 30, 2012

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

Video: @BarackObama ad touts accomplishments, unveils new campaign slogan #Forward http://t.co/nkqeWa98

— The Hill (@thehill) April 30, 2012

The video teases a new campaign slogan: “Forward,” and while it doesn’t mention Obama’s likely Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, it blames GOP policies for the still sluggish economy.

(Theme of Obama's new campaign video) RT @ZekeJMiller: Per press release, the RNC is pushing the hashtag #FORWARD today.

— Sarah Boxer (@Sarah_Boxer) April 30, 2012

And you diligently label all the WhiteHouse-pushed hashtags, yes? RT @ZekeJMiller The RNC-pushed hashtag #Forward is trending nationwide.

— Michelle Malkin (@michellemalkin) April 30, 2012

Diligently.

Excellent move by the RNC, but we’re confident conservatives would have managed to hijack this meme without any nudging. The #forward hashtag is trending nationwide this morning, and not because Obama boosters are breathless over the new campaign video:

#Forward: Because emulating Greece is AWESOME.

Let's not closely examine the promises, decisions and results of the past three and a half years. Let's just look #FORWARD

— Brittany Cover (@bccover) April 30, 2012

Before Obama, most Americans had no idea what 'one trillion' meant. Now it's a painful part of everyday speech. Way to go! #Forward #p2

— Madeleine McAulay (@m_mcaulay) April 30, 2012

— Kirsten Kukowski (@kakukowski) April 30, 2012

The position the country must be facing to receive Obama's big stick. #Forward

— Gregoré (@greg_zemaitis) April 30, 2012

Even the spambots are doing more to dominate this hashtag than the left side of the Twittersphere. (We’ll spare you from having to view those tweets.)

Keep looking forward, Dems! If you took a look back, you might realize your hashtags never work out as planned.
