@dmataconis and make the best of a bad situation .. Just like he would make his daughters do.

Wow. Some alleged jokes are just beyond the pale. This is one of them. Sadly, it wasn’t the only one along those lines.

http://t.co/WDiUIpuf Comment of the day: "Shouldn’t [Santorum] be forced to carry his campaign to term?"

— Amanda Marcotte (@AmandaMarcotte) April 11, 2012

Dear Rick, you can't abort your campaign after 20 weeks, you'll have to carry it to full term. #santorum

Classy dame, as you can tell by her Twitter handle.

Dear Rick Santorum: Since you are so thoroughly pro-birth, you may not abort your campaign. you must carry it to term.

— DamnNearClear (@SherrieGG) April 11, 2012

Pro-birth! Oh, the horror.

It seems the one collective brain of the Left couldn’t even come up with many variations of the deplorable “joke”. What tolerance and caring! Nothing like a little gleeful crowing on the backs of the innocent.

Twitter came through, as always.

@politicalmath @dmataconis That's so clever because a campaign is just like a living per-born baby! #prolife

Wish I could say that "quip" was beneath you, @dmataconis. Instead I will say, "This is why libertarians and conservatives don't get on."

— Neal Dewing (@Neal_Dewing) April 11, 2012

@NewDealGin And I would say, "this is why conservatives don't have a sense of humor"

— Doug Mataconis (@dmataconis) April 11, 2012

See, it’s funny!What’s wrong, rubes? Dead babies aren’t hilarious to you? And mocking a man and his wife’s personal tragedy is side-splitting!

@NewDealGin It's not a "libertarian/conservative divide" thing. It's a "@dmataconis asshole tweet" thing—no more, no less.

— Stephen Sheiko (@stephensheiko) April 11, 2012

@Wittorical but they're not really people, so it's okay to joke about killing them. 200 years ago it was black people. Today it's the unborn

— Harold Stickeehands (@StickeeNotes) April 11, 2012

Because the death of innocents is awwweeessoommme! (@dmataconis approves this tweet)

— Wittorical (@Wittorical) April 11, 2012

It’s time for some to have their moral compasses recalibrated. Start by thinking about this.

.@dmataconis Ho ho ho. It's funny b/c you compared crushing a baby's skull to a political campaign.
