Earth Hour: Saving energy by tweeting about being an awesome slacktivist
http://twitter.com/#!/AG_Conservative/status/315576723066458113
Ah, it’s time once again for “Earth Hour,” a day (actually just one hour) where slacktivists swoon over themselves and pat themselves on their smug backs for continuing the global warming myth. How? By claiming to unplug and turn things off at 8:30 p.m. today in their local time zones. For a whole hour! Squee! Funnily enough, they seem to tweet madly about it.

Remember to switch off the lights but keep all your CO2-emitting gadgets on so you can tweet how much you care about our planet. #EarthHour
— Khaela de Leon (@khaela) March 23, 2013
It’s a truth universally acknowledged that turning all your lights off for #EarthHour isn’t effective unless you tweet about it too.

How are you marking Earth Hour tonight? Tweet us a photo at @cp24 and we’ll add it to an Earth Hour gallery.

If #EarthHour think electricity will destroy Earth shouldn’t they throw away their laptops and iPhones? Is that Tweet worth killing species?
— Rep. Steve Stockman (@SteveStockmanTX) March 23, 2013
Earth hour, when we switch off all the electric things to save the earth (except laptops, routers, & data centres so we can tweet during it)

Bingo. Evidently, social media isn’t covered under “unplugging.”
