ABC News today published a police report filed in May by the Democratic National Convention Host Committee. It seems that amid all the fun and games at the convention in Charlotte, N.C., nearly a half-million dollars in electronics went missing.

ABC notes that some of the items listed on the report were valued at up to 62 times their retail value. The DNC did not respond to a request for comment, but some can’t help wondering what was on (or inside) that lost 16GB iPhone 4S that made it worth $30,503. Breitbart.com’s John Sexton got the ball rolling.

Even assuming that $30,000 iPhone (or the $15,096 iPad or the $75,537 MacBook) was loaded up with pricey proprietary software, how does that explain the $1,242 wireless keyboard or the $2,760 mouse? Sure, it’s a fancy mouse, but even Apple only charges $69 for it.

We’re sure there’s a perfectly good explanation, and we can’t wait to hear it.
