Despicable: Liberals portray Richard Mourdock as pro-rape

http://twitter.com/#!/DWStweets/status/260930949422936064

“The only exception I have to have an abortion is in the case of the life of the mother. I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

— Richard Mourdock, Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Indiana

Mourdock’s remarks, made during a debate in Indiana Tuesday evening, have liberal Democrats and their friends in the MSM in full-blown freak-out mode tonight:

Mitt’s man Mourdock apes Akin in Indiana debate, reflecting a GOP that is way out of mainstream.bit.ly/WHrFpq

Women take note: Romney/Ryan & Mourdock aim to put you down and keep you down. They are as violent in their oppression of you as the rapist.

GOP Senate candidate goes the Full Akin: says Rape Pregnancy is Will of God livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/mourdock…

— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) October 24, 2012

Watch the video. Read the transcript. Mourdock simply said life is a gift from God, and he believes this to be true even in cases where life results from “that horrible situation of rape.”

What is objectionable about that? Nothing at all.

Unless, that is, you are a liberal who wants to make it seem as though Mourdock supports rape:

Naturally, Democrats wasted no time tying Mourdock’s so-called “pro-rape” comments to GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney:

It’s probably important to note that Romney endorsed Richard “Rape: a Gift from God” Mourdock for the U.S. Senate.

It gets worse.  Some deranged Twitter users are urging Mourdock to commit suicide. Or are calling for him to be tortured,  shot, or killed.

These people are desperate and disgusting. Richard Mourdock sticks up for babies born to rape victims, and he is viciously attacked.

And they think we need counseling?

To all #tcot nuts calling Mourdock’s comments “perfectly reasonable”: youre a special kind of fucked up. Run. Dont walk to counseling. #p2

— Audrey(@Audnumber) October 24, 2012

Decent Twitter users defended Mourdock and his principled stance:

RT @steveegg: Ditto RT @smoosieq: <—Believes all life comes from God.I’d proudly vote for Richard Mourdock if I were an Indiana citizen.

— Melissa Clouthier (@MelissaTweets) October 24, 2012

Before you throw @richardmourdock under the bus, remember this: Joe Donnelly is a leftist hack masquerading as a conservative. Vote Mourdock

I have stood, and continue to stand with Richard Mourdock, he is a brilliant, wonderful man #INsen #tcot #p2 twitter.com/ShaneWright22/…

— Shane Wright (@ShaneWright22) October 24, 2012

Mourdock’s obvious point was that God can create something beautiful out of something tragic and awful. Which is absolutely true.

— Nick Jacob (@nicktjacob) October 24, 2012

I have no issue w/ Richard Mourdock stand on abortion and rape & find the Left’s zeal to kill every baby they possibly can to be disgusting.

This Mourdock story today proves one thing: There is no gutter depth that is too low for @thedemocrats of our time to plummet. (cc: @indems)

— Glen Asbury (@glenasbury) October 24, 2012

Wow. Seeing left-wing shills sensationalizing Mourdock’s comment tonight and equating it with Akin’s. Fundamentally different. Disgusting.

— Luke Londo (@llondo) October 24, 2012

only people who subscribe to obama’s “punished w/ a baby” philosophy would be outraged at mourdock’s heartfelt comments…

— Ryan (@alwaysonoffense) October 24, 2012

I refuse to defend what Akin said. I’ll always defend what Mourdock said. They’re not even similar statements.

— David Freddoso (@freddoso) October 24, 2012

And what’s this?

Mourdock’s opponent, Democrat Joe Donnelly, was a co-sponsor with Akin of bill with “forcible rape” language. vlt.tc/j3j

— Ben Domenech (@bdomenech) October 24, 2012

That, of course, doesn’t support the liberals’ narrative. So don’t expect it to get much attention.

Update:

GOP nominee Mitt Romney did not pull his endorsement of Mourdock, but distanced himself from the Indiana candidate’s remarks.

Romney campaign statement on Mourdock: “Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock’s comments, and they do not reflect his views.”
