Remember remember, the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot. #nw V for Vendetta instagr.am/p/Roqc3snIBY/

“5th of November” — Guy Fawkes Day in England — is trending around the world thanks to Occupy mischief-makers, Anonymous hactivists, and their moronic cheerleaders. Earlier today, several NBC-related websites based in the U.S. were hacked by someone commemorating the 5th of November. So was a Lady Gaga fan site.

NBC sites hacked by ‘pyknic’; quickly restored; Lady Gaga site also defaced: apne.ws/TtecwD -CC

In Australia, Anonymous-linked Twitter users gloated over the purported hacking of an “Australian government” website as part of a global “Operation Vendetta:”

Australian Government qla.org.au Hacked by Anonymous for Nov 5th

— Anonymous Australia (@AuAnon) November 5, 2012

Australian Government HACKED – qla.org.au #5Nov

— Anonymous (@AnonymousWiki) November 5, 2012

Just one problem: The nitwits actually hacked the website of a non-governmental organization that provides services to disabled people:

@auanon this site qla.org.au is a non profit organizationfor disabled – what do they have to do with anything? #Anonymous

— AGITATE THE STATE (@lesleyblood) November 5, 2012

@auanon While they do get funding from the QLD State gov, apparently, they are not a gov org; they seem to do disability support services.

This is not a Government site. It’s an NGO. Fuckwits. RT @auanon: Australian Government qla.org.au Hacked by Anonymous for Nov 5th

@auanon You haven’t linked to a govt site all day – the only Govt site you’ve claimed is QLA which is an NGO. You’re fucking idiots.

— Kath Crosby (@kathoc) November 5, 2012

@ehrenandix QLA is a member based organisation is run predominantly on fundraising dollars.

— Kath Crosby (@kathoc) November 5, 2012

@shakaglees @ehrenandix anything .org.au should have been left alone. Attacking a disability NGO is the definition of stupidity.

— Kath Crosby (@kathoc) November 5, 2012

A belated acknowledgement from an Anonymous Twitterer:

To be clear: the #Australian Government was not ‘HACKED’ it is a service site 4 disabled ppl – qla.org.au #5Nov #NoV5 #OpVendetta

— Anonymous (@AnonymousZC) November 5, 2012

Unfortunately, the idiocy has only just begun:

The Twitterverse goes mad wondering what #Anonymous will do next on this 5th day of November since we already started out with a bang! #5Nov

— Anonymous Australia (@AuAnon) November 5, 2012

“Started out with a bang?” Well, yeah, if they mean the sound of shooting themselves in the foot.
