While most of the media stay silent, Megyn Kelly addresses Salazar, UCCS rape remarks

Remember Todd Akin and his “legitimate rape” remarks? Or Rep. Phil Gingrey? Or Richard Mourdock’s misconstrued comments about children conceived during rape? The mainstream media ensured that we’d never forget. And as Twitchy reported, Colorado State Rep. Joe Salazar is now finding himself in a similar situation after his insulting trivialization of rape and his downright idiotic suggestion that women are too emotional to carry guns. Yet, oddly enough, on Salazar, the national media have remained largely silent. Just to be sure, The Right Scoop, “just a blogger,” did a bit of digging at various MSM outlets and found … nothing:

What’s with the radio silence from the media? Could it have anything to do with the fact that Salazar, unlike Akin or Mourdock, is a Democrat?
Do you think Salazar is going to get the same cap from the media that Akin did? That was a rhetorical question.
— Sandman (@Mizz_SandraBee) February 18, 2013
I hope the media asks every single democrat everyday if they support what Salazar said. Like they did with Akin and GOP

A few local outlets deigned to cover the controversy:
the @denverpost says Republicans are outraged by Salazar’s whistle/rape comments. really? it’s a partisan issue?

They were unable to do so, however, without letting their bias show. Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing we’ve come to expect by now.
Still waiting for someone in old media to start asking prominent Dems if Joe Salazar represents their views on rape and self-defense.

Regarding Colorado’s Salazar -If a Republican uttered that “callbox and whistle” absurdity, the media storm would be visible from space.
— MyKrush (@miker476) February 19, 2013
@basedhanson I don’t disagree, & add that the media needs to report all dumb rape comments, not just Repub ones. Salazar’s getting a pass.

Fortunately, not everyone in the national media is letting Salazar off the hook. This afternoon on “America Live,” Megyn Kelly went where so few others are willing to go and addressed the moronic musings of Salazar and the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs:
. @megynkelly covering the “vomit all over your rapist” story
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) February 19, 2013
@megynkelly I’m in CO-just applied for my concealed weapon permit. So many requests, there is 3-mo backlog. Salazar is complete jackass.
— Jane G (@Jane_from_CO) February 19, 2013
@megynkelly you rock. your segment on #liberaltips2avoidrape was spot on
— St Louis Ray (@St_Louis_Ray) February 19, 2013
@megynkelly THANK YOU Megyn, for talking about the Salazar comments re:rape and guns on campus; and the “tips” suggested to avoid rape.

It’s a sad state indeed when journalists need to be commended for doing their jobs, but kudos to Kelly for calling Salazar and the faux-pro-women Left out on their idiocy. We hope other media outlets will follow Kelly’s lead and hold Salazar accountable, but we suppose that’s hoping for far too much.
