All dogs want to do is love their humans.

That’s why when we hear stories like Aurora’s, our hearts can’t help but ache and nearly break.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina got a call about a dog in desperate need.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

And when they arrived on the scene, this is what they found…a dog whose mouth and head were wrapped in duct tape.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

The beautiful girl was freed of her sticky restraints and immediately brought to a nearby vet clinic.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

That’s where her true Great Dane glory began to shine through!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

While the tape didn’t do any damage to her face, Aurora still has a long road ahead of her. According to her YouCaring page, she has whipworms, hookworms, is underweight, and tested positive for life-threatening heartworms. Because the mature girl is only 92 pounds, her treatment will be trying on her system and especially expensive.
