Earlier this week, Virginia State Sen. Deeds was stabbed multiple times by his 24-year-old son Gus. Gus committed suicide shortly thereafter.

This was Sen. Deeds’ message upon being released from the hospital this morning:

Heartbreaking. We can’t begin to imagine the pain Sen. Deeds is feeling. But we sincerely hope he can draw comfort and strength from knowing that he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.
