Former U.S. Rep. Jim Traficant, an Ohio Democrat who was known for saying “beam me up, Mr. Speaker” during speeches on the House Floor, has died following a tractor accident earlier this week. In 2002, Traficant was convicted of corruption charges, expelled from Congress and sentenced to eight years in prison.
