Failure of New York Mets bullpen results in fan frustration, trending hashtag

The New York Mets are in third place in the NL East, ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves and only a game and a half out of the top spot. But c’mon, it’s the Mets. You know they’ll find a way to screw it up.
The leading candidate to be the goat is the bullpen. The Mets bullpen has a league-worst 5.45 ERA. Last night against the rival Phillies, starter Dillon Gee left after six and two-thirds innings with a 3-1 lead. Terry Collins must have been foolish to trust the bullpen with such a slim lead. Five relievers managed to give up nine runs and the Mets lost 10-4.
Fans took to Twitter today to smear the hapless bunch that is hastening the team’s eventual demise.
