Cher, Lizz Winstead: Sociopath Mitt Romney would have eliminated FEMA

http://twitter.com/#!/cher/status/263016001292079104

We’ve already heard from Cher that Mitt Romney is heartless and evil and if he wins the election, she’ll cry forever. It wouldn’t seem there’d be much to add, but with Hurricane Sandy making landfall, Cher wants us to know President Romney would have eliminated FEMA and left states to fend for themselves.

Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead, a noted Romney denier, is getting in on the action as well, calling Romney a sociopath for denying claims that he’d “absolutely” disband FEMA.

Now he denies the FEMA comment? Romney is a sociopath. You can’t deny saying *that* many things unless there is something wrong with you.

— Lizz Winstead (@lizzwinstead) October 29, 2012

Why would he deny saying it? Because he didn’t say it. Sure, the Huffington Post reported last night that Romney, asked in the Republican primary debates whether FEMA should be shuttered, responded “Absolutely.” HuffPo even helpfully provides the YouTube video; the only catch, though, is that Romney wasn’t asked whether FEMA should be shuttered — as the video shows, he was asked if the states should take a greater role in disaster response.

Asked about FEMA last year, Mitt didn’t say abolish it but “absolutely..the right direction” to move federal responsibilities to the states

The Atlantic’s Jordan Weissmann published his own response to the claim, incorporating the Romney campaign’s statement on the issue: “Gov. Romney wants to ensure states, who are the first responders and are in the best position to aid impacted individuals and communities, have the resources and assistance they need to cope with natural disasters.” In short, yes, states should have a greater role in disaster response.

No, Mitt Romney doesn’t really want to kill off FEMA theatlantic.com/business/archi…

Romney said his plan for disaster response “includes help from the federal government and FEMA” abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics…

So Romney now wants to get rid of FEMA?Wow, the left will say anything at this point…

— Greg B (@gregb94) October 30, 2012

@huffingtonpost Romney never said “cut funds to FEMA”, said “better served if run by state or private sector, not Washington Bureaucrats”

— Jerome L. Sloggett (@JeromeLSloggett) October 30, 2012

But you can’t trust a “sociopath” like Romney, can you? Never mind what he actually said; you just know the guy borrowed George W. Bush’s weather machine to start Hurricane Sandy anyway, right?

Romney: FEMA should “absolutely” be abolished. States should deal w/ disasters, or “even better,” the private sector. bitly.com/S4jaiX
