When beachgoers on Las Coloradas Beach in the Canary Islands noticed a pod of whales headed toward the shoreline, they knew they had to come up with a plan quickly. That’s because the short-finned pilot whales had become caught in shallow water.

Quick-thinking vacationers headed into the water in an attempt to guide the pod back to sea. Some began splashing the whales with water to keep them cool, while others started swimming in the direction the whales needed to go to offer a little encouragement.

Thanks to a few vacationers, these whales were given a second chance.

This is proof that when people come together, anything is possible.
